A perfect surf vacation destination. The rustic Guiones community is far removed from the more touristy and crowded surf destinations in Costa Rica. Hotels, restaurants and vacation homes are scattered along roads and paths through the jungle trees. The roads into this area are still unpaved, ensuring that only the adventurous traveler looking to get off the beaten path will visit. Those who come (more and more each year) are rewarded with beautiful scenery, fun and uncrowded beach breaks, and a relaxing retreat away from the hustle and bustle. One of the most notable features here is the beach and surrounding jungle have been set aside as parkland so there are no buildings beachfront. Guiones has several surf schools for those who want to learn to surf in Costa Rica. The waves at Playa Guiones are very suitable for beginners but also will offer plenty of fun for more advanced surfers.
