North Shore Overview
If surfing has a soul, it's found on the North Shore of Oahu. No place on Earth has played a more important role in shaping our sport. The North Shore is comprised of 7 glorious miles of reef break, beach breaks and point breaks. Many of the world's most renowned surfers honed their skills in these waters. For those who have never been to the North Shore, you will be surprised at how undeveloped the area is. Turtle Bay is the only major hotel and there are no tall buildings or major shopping centers. There's Foodland for groceries and some small businesses in Haleiwa but overall it's a very laid back place.
There are lots of single family vacation homes to choose from between Log Cabins and Sunset Beach. The homes range from Luxury rentals to simple cabins. If it's diving, snorkeling or flatwater SUP you want, then the summer months are best for you as the ocean can be as still as a lake and underwater visibility breathtaking. The stretch of beach around Pipeline and the North Shore serves up large swells during the winter months. It's a place to test your mettle if you're skilled enough, or just sit and watch in awe as some of the world's best surfers ride some of the world's best waves. If it's smaller waves you're after try coming in the summer months or look for a Hawaiian beach rental on the South Shore.
