Surfing Florida Gulf Coast Overview

Known for it's gorgeous white sand beaches and turquoise waters, the Florida Gulf Coast is an often overlooked surf destination as well.  While it's true that great surf is not consistent here, many spots in the panhandle like Pensacola and Destin have some form of rideable wave more often than not. When you factor in the Caribbean blue water and the fact that when a hurricane swell passes through you can get world-class waves, this isn't such a bad spot. Plenty of pro surfers have been raised in the Florida Gulf Coast.

When it comes to places to stay, the Florida Gulf Coast may have more vacation condos, house rentals and beachfront hotels than anywhere else. It's easy to find the right place at the right price and the shoulder seasons in late spring and early fall offer really great deals, often half the cost of summer rentals.  When it comes to a family friendly surf vacation destination, Florida's Gulf Coast is hard to beat.

Pensacola Surf Report - Pensacolasurf.com brings you surf updates with photos and video multiple times each day from the Florida Panhandle region.
