This property is located near Surfer's Point. A great beginner wave. A left semi-pointbreak setup with fun walls. Mostly lefts but some rights as well. Also a really laid back beach to just sit and enjoy the beauty. Surf lessons available at this beach.
This property is also located near South Point. Reef break on Barbados' South shore, good for intermediate surfers. It is a multiple peak wave, making it easy to avoid the crowd of surfers that visit the area. The wave is mainly a left but rights are great as well. South Point can get really hollow and fast. It picks up any swell coming off the Atlantic Ocean and is the first place the surfers check for waves on the South side. When the wind at Soup Bowl is on-shore, South Point can be off-shore with great conditions.
This property is also located near Freight's Bay. A gentle breaking wave in a sheltered bay that is great for beginners wave when it's small, one of the best and longest lefts on the island when a big South swell hits. Since the wave is usually gentle it's best for longboarders, SUP and beginners. Over 6 feet Freight's Bay gets hollow and perfect for shortboarding. The bottom is mostly sand with some reef making it overall a safe and gentle spot for beginners.

Favorite Break: Same place
Wave/Swell Conditions: Very small, perfect for a beginner
Thoughts I want to pass on:
To start my girlfriend and I stayed for a week in early May and I am already considering another trip, so obviously we had a good time. The location is awesome, the picture is the view from the beach, just 20 steps from the accommodations. I took advantage of the three day surf lesson package, a first time surfer.
Surfing at Surfers Point was not inviting for beginners so instructors and students drove a short distance to a local cove. The instructors are the best, I rode a wave on the first attempt. By the second day i was catching waves on my own. I am sure there may be a better instructor than Junior somewhere...... change that, there may not be a better instructor for beginners than Junior anywhere. For three days I watched him teach at least 20 beginners, all were catching waves within short time. There were smiles all around and even a little trash talking.
If you want to get away, avoid crowds, don't need a casino, or a full service restaurant, and are willing to slightly rough-it a little for seclusion, Zed's is hard to beat. There is a small food concession run by Cheryl, the breakfast and lunch offered are fresh and tasty. There is a small bodega ,about a 10 minute walk, that offers some food and basic drinks. The number 11 van is another block away, an inexpensive way to tour the south of the island. A must stop for dinner under the stars is the Surfers Bay Beach Bar a ten minute taxi ride. We used Donjon taxi service while on the island, Donavan is friendly, his prices fair and he was always on time 231-5915.
We stayed in the Almond studio, next time I plan on booking earlier to get a one bedroom. The almond studio is a basic room, nothing special, but fairly priced and clean. Zed, a simple suggestion, place some cloths hangers in the armoire, I had to live out of my luggage. Also, maybe its time for a few more beginner boards. One day I surfed (okay for those watching i survived and the picture is not from the day I surfed there) at Surfers Point, since lessons were at another location about 8 boards were not available and two couples had grabbed boards before me, that left just just one surf board I was comfortable with, it had more duct tape than my car (though I doubt the condition of the board had any effect on my surfing).
If your looking for a simple, quiet location to chill and possibly surf for part of the day, don't look any further, you won't be disappointed. And the wave rating is based on a novice perspective .

Thoughts I want to pass on:
This was a great place for my girlfriend and I. We felt very welcomed and apart of the community at Zeds. I can't wait to go back and only hope to find all of the same employees there when we do. The surfing was down as it was not peak season but still caught a few good waves! Great Instructors on site and an awesome cook as well. I def recommend to anyone wanting to get away and have a peaceful vacation with positive vibes mon'!
