Santa Teresa is a tropical beach town in Puntarenas, Costa Rica. The picturesque and long stretch of coastline is full of jungle-front, white sandy beaches and wonderful surf. The area has developed into a popular destination as an eco-tourism and surf destination. Plenty of options are available in the area for all types of travelers: rustic camp sites to luxury accommodations, simple to fine-dining restaurants, and endless adventurous activities.
Also known as La Lora Amarilla. La Lora is a barreling, normal to long A-frame beach break. La Lora breaks along Playa Santa Teresa, a beach that has become a benchmark for experienced surfers. Shortboards, funboards and longboards work well here. Consistency is year-round.
About the Access
Driving in with a 4x4 is recommended. The public beach access road is at La Lora Amarillo night club. Parking is under the coconut trees, but beware of break-ins. Direct access to the waves is from the beach.
