Bocas del Toro (known as Bocas) is located on the island of Isla Colon in the Bocas del Toro archipelago in Panama. Isla Colon is the archipelago's largest and most developed island. Visitors on this island often use it as a base to relax, surf, and travel nearby. The island chain has beautiful sandy beaches and tropical rainforests and life is very mellow—Caribbean style. Surf schools and shops offer gear rentals, lessons, and organize surf boat trips.
The Break
Also known as Punch. Paunch is a mellow and sometimes barreling, normal reef break going mostly left. The left begins with a tube section turning into a wall. This wave can be very fun when on the smaller side. There are a few rights off the peak, however they are less favored. Shortboards and bodyboards are ideal here. Consistency is fair year-round with mainly winter swells.
