The Area

Praia dos Aivados is a scenic beach in Alentejo, Portugal. Sines, an old fishing village, was the birthplace of explorer Vasco de Gama and is now known as a major industrial port for containers. The town may have a strong industrial look, however, it still has traces of its fishing village history, offering a bit of charm as well as cozy accommodations. The sandy beaches are great for surfing and swimming. The local and surf community is known to have a fun and friendly environment. Surf camps and schools are easily found on the beach offering rentals, lessons, and repairs.
