The Break

Also known as Tonel. Sagres is a powerful and hollow, normal A-frame beach break. This surf works at all tides: at low tide, the waves are faster and more hollow, great for intermediate and advanced surfers. At high tide, waves are friendly enough for beginners. Shortboards and bodyboards are best here. Consistency is year-round with ideal conditions in winter.

About the Access

Tonel Bay is located directly south of the Fort at Sagres. Waves are accessible by driving, a short walk down the side of the cliff, and/or a paddle out from the sandy beach.
