Praia da Areia Branca is a beachtown in Lourinhã, Portugal. The white sand beach attracts surfers, swimmers, and volleyball players all-year-round. This is a wave-rich coastline and many other local breaks are short drives away. The bigger surf town of Peniche is also just around the corner, so if and when conditions are not ideal for local breaks, clean conditions can be easily found. Plenty of surf camps and schools offer various types of accommodations, lessons, and rentals.
The Break
Praia da Areia Branca has a handful of different breaks along the expansive beach. The main breaks are mellow sand-bottom beach breaks that go right and left. A consistent river mouth break also works on the southern end of the beach. Longboards, funboards, and shortboards are all good here depending on the tide and swell. Consistency is year-round with countless nearby breaks that are easily accessed if these aren't working.
