The Break

Capitola is a very mellow, normal to very long reef break going mostly right with some lefts. This is a very beginner-friendly spot. Longboards and funboards are best here. Waves may be inconsistent, however, very fun when working.

The Area

Santa Cruz is a classic beach town in Santa Cruz County, California. The intimate and mellow surf community is the genesis of surf culture in Northern California. A great variety of waves (around sixty) break along this stunning coastline, offering spots for every level of practice and skill. With such reliable waves also come crowds, so proper etiquette is expected. Several down-home coffee shops, bars, restaurants and shops make it a surfer's (and non-surfer's) paradise.
