Casablanca was made with the comfort of the surfer and his family in mind, so you can enjoy the wave known as "The Ranch" without having to move around by car since the wave is just few steps from the house. The walls of the rooms are made of adobe, so it is very cool, despite the heat in the region. Enjoy fresh breezes off the mountains at night, and the breeze of the sea by day. The terrace offers views of the wave and incredible sunsets too.
The house has two suites with air conditioning, living room, dining room and a fully equipped kitchen. On the terrace, you will have hammocks available, an outdoor room, a washbasin, a kitchen bar, a grill and a clay oven with a comal.
We are only the second house available in the area. The lot is new and the area has just begun to populate. That makes nature still very virgin, and an incredible surf experience. At night, there are practically no lights nearby, so the sky is a spectacle. In the mornings and afternoons the native birds visit us, also, on the terrace, you can watch whales, depending on the time of year you visit us. We have already seen animals of all types, from deer, rabbits, iguanas, to snakes, so it is recommended to keep the gates closed.
The wave is the main attraction here, with extensive left lines off the main peak, but you can also walk to the river, where there are rights, as well as other peaks distributed throughout the area. Snorkeling is also recommended, when the tide is favorable.
And in the house you will feel very comfortable to rest. The clay oven is perfect for making pizzas, in addition to the comal you can cook with the flavor that only the firewood provides. We are from a place that still preserves the atmosphere of yesteryear, where there is no need to worry about locking doors. All of this is an one hour drive from the Ixtapa-Zihuatanejo airport, or in six hours driving on the highway from Mexico City.
This house was built exclusively to enjoy this wave. It's far removed from everything, and can at times be difficult to get a cell phone connection, but there is WiFi at the home, however that is dependent upon the variations of the TelCel network.
On the other hand, the silence, the proximity to the sea, and the stars at night can be a unique experience to relax while vacationing with your family.
There is no public transportation in the area, so we recommend renting a car when you arrive to the airport. The closest cities are Lazaro Cardenas or Zihuatanejo an hour away by car, and where you can find large supermarkets and other services that you may need.
For light shopping there is a small grocery store in the closest village, El Roble, about 2.5 kms up the road. You will pass through this village on the way to the house. For breakfast there is only one option which is at Señora Julia's beachfront palapa, located right in front of the wave on the beach.
The Ranch is a clean and fast point break with options going left and right. The shape of the wave is compared to that of Trestles, in San Diego, California. It is a remote location, best accessed by boat and or jet ski. Driving there can be tricky, so find a local and get directions. Shortboards and funboards are ideal here, but longboards can be good too. Consistency is year-round with best conditions during summer months.
