This three story Cedar and Teak house features all modern amenities, ocean (and jungle) views from your bed, ample hammock balcony space, private bathrooms w/ hot water, daily cleaning service, WiFi, a fully stocked kitchen, and the best drinking water straight from a well under the Ayampe river. The unobstructed oceanfront keeps you cool at all hours of the day. Also included is daily cleaning service to keep your room fresh!
When I built this house I had the goal in mind that one should be able to enjoy the natural beauty of Ayampe in complete comfort. In doing so, I wanted to keep the rooms open, starting from the view of the ocean and islands from your bed to the views of the jungle from the windows. For your tranquility the house is equal parts balcony and equal parts rooms. We believe rustic doesn’t mean sacrificing comfort; quality pillows, fresh linens, comfortable beds and a high attention to detail and cleanliness are esteemed as essential at Vistamar.
The house devotes equal parts rooms as it does balcony space and garden. When you see the view that the house is open to it becomes obvious why so much space is dedicated to 3 floors of shaded balcony and sun deck. Further, the indoor/outdoor kitchen is outfitted with amenities including filtered spring water, a whole house surge protector and power charger that keeps all your items safe while charging, a blender, cooking utensils, a fridge/freezer etc.
Also, there are dirt bikes, mountain bikes, surfboards, snorkel and scuba gear, tubes for when the river is high for rent, cooking classes (and/or personal chef) with Fernando, and a 4 wheel drive vehicle for jungle excursions.
Included in your room are daily cleaning, and linens and towels changed twice a week or by request. Your room is also outfitted with a fan, a mosquito net, a towel, soap and drinking water.
And not to go without mention, I have installed a surge protector and power cleaner for the whole house so that your electronics are protected when they charge, despite fluctuations in our rural power system.
Vistamar competes for the best views in Ayampe (see pictures as words cannot do justice; see in person as pictures can only do so much justice). Also, the house is only one of several nestled in the one block that makes up the dirt road. The north end of the block is bordered by an estuary, the front by a pasture that opens to the beach, to the south the street dead ends into a quint road with a few restaurant that dead ends into the beach a half block later.
The house is located in a quiet, quaint local section of the village of Ayampe. The house is one of the few that make up the one block street; there is a big pasture that opens up to the beach directly to the front of the house, an estuary that borders the north end of the block, houses behind populated by friendly neighbors and a few small restaurants on the other end of the block. Their is a vegetable truck that comes to the house every other day with fresh local produce and dairy. And the neighbor behind the house is a fisherman with a variety of fresh catch whenever the ocean is calm enough to fish.
There are buses that pass in either direction on the Panamericana every 30 minutes. Taxis are cheap and I am happy to call one for you. That being said, there is no need to leave Ayampe; restaurants are cheap, cold beer and coconuts are a stone's throw away; produce trucks come right to the front door. There is a free medical clinic a few blocks away as well.
Ayampe is a powerful and punchy, normal to long beach break that goes right and left. It's a very dynamic wave which can be mellow and crumbly at high tide but punchy and barreling at low tide. All boards work well here. Consistency is year-round.
